On March 8, the International Women’s Day celebration was held at our Sourashtra Chamber of Commerce. Notably, the event was entirely led by women. Mr. K.K. Dinesh, President of the Chamber, inaugurated the event and handed over the proceedings to Life Member Mrs. Chandrakala Kumaresan. Also present on the stage were Mrs. Durga Mohanram, Mrs. Vasuki Ramdas, Mrs. Varalakshmi Krishnamurthy, Mrs. Vasanthi Sethuram, and Mrs. Savithri Sridhar.

Dr. Sangavi introduced the guests to the stage. The Chief Guest was Dr. K.S. Gomathi, Principal & Head of Madurai Gandhi NMR Subbaraman College for Women, and the Guest of Honour was Dr. K. Mangala Lakshmi Pritem, Senior Consultant at Pritem Multispeciality Hospital.

Dr. K. Mangala Lakshmi Pritem provided valuable information regarding women’s health and wellness. The Chief Guest, Dr. K.S. Gomathi, delivered an inspiring and captivating speech on women’s rights, education, and self-confidence, which greatly impressed the audience.

During the event, Achievement Awards were presented to two women entrepreneurs from the Sourashtra community: Mrs. Bhavanisri Vignesh (Founder & CEO, Raamiyas by Sakunthala) and Dr. M.K. Chitra (Saravana Surgicals).

Mrs. Suganthi, a professor at Saurashtra College, served as the compere for the program. More than a hundred women participated with great enthusiasm, and meaningful mementos were presented to them on behalf of the Chamber.

It is heartening to note that Mrs. Chandrakala Kumaresan and her team organized and conducted the entire event remarkably well. Finally, the meeting concluded pleasantly with a vote of thanks by the Chamber General Secretary, Mr. A.B. Kumaresh Babu.
